Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Jami Anspach and I feel very fortunate to have been selected as the interim Principal of Lee Road Elementary School. Over the last two weeks, I have been spending time at Lee Road getting to know the building, the students and the wonderful staff. A common theme that I continue to hear is that Lee Road Elementary has amazing parents, community support and involvement. I have learned that Lee Road is a place where strong connections are made between home and school and that it is also a place where all staff members are committed to helping your child Succeed Every Day! I value both of these characteristics and am excited to help continue moving Lee Road along the path of excellence.
I have benefitted from an excellent Levittown School District education myself, having been raised in Levittown. I attended Summit Lane Elementary, Wisdom Lane Middle School and Division Avenue High School. After graduating from SUNY Cortland with a degree in Elementary Education Pre-K-6, I went on to get my Masters degree at Adelphi University in Special Education K-12. While pursuing my Graduate degree, I began teaching at East Broadway Elementary where I taught grades 1, 2, 3, and 4. After 13 years of teaching, I was eager to pursue a degree in administration, which I received through Long Island University at CW POST. After 15 years of teaching, I served as the Assistant Principal across 3 of our elementary schools (Northside, Gardiners and East Broadway). Most recently, as we began the 2018 - 2019 school year, I took on the role as the Assistant Director of Elementary Education. These experiences have given me a solid understanding of what elementary students need in order to be prepared and successful in middle school, high school and life beyond their K-12 education.
My family has also helped prepare me to be an elementary principal. My husband and I have two beautiful twin boys who are now in fifth grade! The experience of being a parent, of two very different children, who have different learning styles and needs, has helped me to have an even deeper understanding of children.
I am very eager to get to know all of you and your wonderful child(ren). I believe that one of the most important aspects of my work as Principal of Lee Road is building meaningful relationships with the students, staff, parents and greater community. This being said, it will be very important for me to be in the hallways, classrooms, on the playground and in the lunchroom getting to know your child(ren) throughout the year. I have found that kids really appreciate a person who genuinely invests in them by listening, by learning alongside and by being fair and consistent.
In addition to building strong relationships with students, families and teachers it will be particularly important for me to make sure that you and your child feel safe and respected at our school. If you ever have a concern, please do not hesitate to call the main office or email me. I believe open communication is very important in a school and for this reason, I will always encourage you reach out to your child's teacher, to a member of the office staff or to me with any questions you may have.
