Abbey Lane PTA Committee Descriptions

Book Fair:
Committee is responsible for ordering, checking inventory, and helping the students select books at our fair.

Box Tops for Education:
Committee is responsible for submitting Box Tops collected from our families.

Field Day:
Committee is responsible for working with school staff to organize the events.

Gift Wrap Fundraiser:
Committee is responsible for collecting and submitting orders and then distributing them when they arrive.

Secret Store:
Committee is responsible for a week long holiday shopping event held at our school. The committee selects the items and labels them with price tags. They also help the children select items to purchase.

Honorary Life:
Honorary Life is an award given by New York State PTA to a community member who goes above and beyond for our children. The committee is responsible for requesting letters of nominations from PTA members and choosing the winner.

Hospitality:
Committee is responsible for setting up the refreshments before each PTA meeting.

Membership:
Committee is responsible for collecting dues, filling out membership cards and encouraging everyone to join PTA.

Newsletter:
Committee is responsible for collecting news from classrooms, PTA and other areas of interest to publish in our newsletter.

PARP:
Parents as Reading Partners. Committee is responsible for establishing ideas to coordinate with a yearly theme. They also keep track of the reading contest. Volunteers are needed to help out at kick-off night and serve as escorts to community readers.

Picture Day:
Committee coordinates the scheduling for the week, makes sure the children all get their photos taken and then collects and distributes the orders.

Reflections:
Committee is responsible for supporting the yearly theme of the New York State PTA. They coordinate and submit all entries collected from our students.

School Kidz:
Committee is responsible for taking orders for school supply kits and distributing the orders when they come in over the summer. The teachers let the committee know what supplies will be needed for each grade.

Staff Recognition:
Committee is responsible for coordinating the luncheon to honor our staff.

Yearbook:
Committee is responsible for creating the 5 th grade yearbook.

Blood Drive:
Committee is responsible for encouraging our schools blood drive participation at LMEC twice a year.

Levittown Schools Community Scholarships Inc.:
Committee is responsible for collecting funds and bringing them to the district meetings. The money is used for scholarships for seniors in our district.

Food Service:
Committee is responsible for bringing concerns in regard to the food that is offered in our cafeteria to the monthly meeting.

Elementary/Secondary Curriculum:
Committee meets once a month on both levels to discuss current educational topics.

SEPTA:
Special Education Parent Teacher Association. Committee members work with SEPTA and discuss Special Ed issues.

Cultural Arts:
Committee is responsible for working with staff in selecting various educations performers and assemblies throughout the school year, submitting paperwork for BOCES reimbursements and custodial assistance.

Health and Safety Awareness Committee:
Committee is responsible for meeting once monthly at Memorial and report back the latest health and safety issues that are discussed.

LEADD:
Levittown Educators Against Destructive Decisions. Committee is responsible for running the booth at the LEADD fair and working with staff members to coordinate programs for the children that promote healthy decision making during this week long event.

Nutrition Day:
Committee is responsible for the purchase of healthy snacks. Volunteers are needed to help cut, peel, and prepare the snacks as well as serve them to the children.

BJ's Wholesale Club:
Committee responsible for sending out flyers from BJ's several times a year for membership, collect applications and hand them into BJ's.

Transportation:
Committee responsible for attending scheduled meetings at LMEC and report back to the unit.

School Apparel/Magnets:
Committee responsible for placing orders on various items and distributing them when the arrive.

Moving Up:
Committee will be responsible for all 5 th grade events. Several lead chairpersons are needed to oversee the numerous sub-committees that encompass this event.

Plant Sale:
Committee is responsible for unloading the flowers from the truck and helping the children with their selections.
