To the Parents of Abbey Lane:
Welcome to the start of another great year at Abbey Lane! I hope that everyone had a wonderful, relaxing and restful summer with their families! For all new Abbey Lane families, I want to extend a very heartfelt welcome! I am confident you will soon find that Abbey Lane is a unique school. It's a building by name, but it will soon become your second home!
To the Abbey Lane PTA Executive board, committee chairpersons and all of our volunteers, I look forward to working with all of you this school year, some for the first time. I know we will have a great year because of the dedicated and amazing volunteers we have. It is thanks to your time, cooperation, dedication and commitment that we have continued to be a successful PTA!
The purpose of the Abbey Lane PTA is to first and foremost support our students. In addition, it supports the faculty, staff, parents, and the local community. "Every Child-One Voice" is the National PTA motto and the PTA is one of the strongest voices in the educational process that directly supports our children and school. This year will be no different. The Abbey Lane PTA is focused on preparing an enhanced educational and fun environment for all of our students.
An effective and successful PTA requires support and involvement of the parents of our students. It is vital. Your first opportunity to show support is to become a member of the Abbey Lane PTA. We encourage each of you to show your commitment by joining. The Membership form is included in this packet. Our PTA is made up of parents, teachers, grandparents, guardians, school staff, and others in the community that want to improve the educational lives of our children.
The second way to show your support will be to participate in the numerous exciting events and programs that we have planned throughout the year. You may choose to be a committee chair, committee member, or volunteer. Whatever level of participation you choose, your time and involvement will be greatly appreciated. Many parents feel that they cannot participate in the PTA because they cannot attend meetings or be at school during the day. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours during or outside of school hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems. We promise that the time you give to the PTA and the school will be well worth your while-and fun! Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of all our children!
Since your time is valuable, we will always try to have our meetings in the evening, usually once per month and keep them as brief and informal as possible. Please note that children are always welcome to attend. There will be coloring activities and supervision provided in the library during each meeting.
Please contact me anytime about PTA events and activities. I am here to assist you in any way that I can. I hold this opportunity in high regard and I look forward to meeting and working with each of you!
With much appreciation,
Abbey Lane PTA President
