Good evening. This is an important message from the Levittown School District for parents of middle and high school students.

Please note that all middle and high school students will be on a full remote schedule on Tuesday, December 22. Since we have received many requests for students to be remote on that day we thought this would be a good time to test our internal network in preparation for remote administration of limited midyear exams as well as possible remote final exams later in the year. If you would prefer to have your middle or high school child participate remotely on Monday, December 21st, please contact your child's school. Students will not be marked absent for participating remotely on that day. All elementary students will attend school as usual on Monday, December 21st and Tuesday December 22nd.

Thank you, and have a fantastic weekend

Dear Levittown Parents and Guardians,

Recently, Governor Cuomo announced that several areas on Long Island were designated as precautionary yellow micro-cluster zones because of increased positivity rates. If an area is designated a Yellow zone, there are additional regulations that will be required in order for us to remain open. This includes mandatory COVID-19 testing of twenty percent of our school population (students and staff). Without meeting this number, we will not be allowed to remain open for in person learning. While no school in Levittown is currently in a designated micro-cluster zone, it makes sense for us to be prepared in case this happens.

At this time we are asking parents/guardians to complete a consent form that can be found on our district website or at the link below. If you have multiple children, please fill out one form for each child. Tests will be performed at no cost to you. If you do not consent to having your child tested in school, you will have the option to take him or her on your own, during the testing period, to have a COVID-19 test and to submit the test results to the school nurse.

The District is partnering with a highly experienced laboratory who will be conducting the PCR tests. Parents may accompany their children on the day of the testing.

Please click below to fill out the consent form:

Levittown Consent for Covid 19 Testing

Once again, our schools have not been designated in a micro-cluster zone. If that happens, you will be informed. If your child is selected for random testing, you will be notified in advance via email.

It is our desire to keep our schools open during this difficult time and we appreciate your help and trust.

Good evening. This is an important message from the Levittown School District for Friday October 2.

New York State recently provided additional guidance on COVID-19 and school attendance. If you have questions about these documents, please contact the nurse at your child's school.

As we continue to enhance our online instructional platform, we will be enabling the Google Classroom guardian feature. This will allow for weekly email updates about your child's Google Classroom activity. As part of this process we will be mailing a letter to each family to verify the email addresses we have on file. Once you receive this letter, please contact your child's school if there is an error with the email addresses listed.

Finally, SEPTA will be holding their first PTA meeting of the year on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 7pm. Zoom with SEPTA and learn all about Google Classroom! Levittown's own Melissa Camberdella is a Math Teacher at Division Avenue High School and MacArthur High School. She has been teaching in the Levittown School District for 2-1/2 years and is a Google Certified Level 1 Educator. To follow along with the training, you will need to have your child's Levittown School District email address and password. We are looking forward to "seeing" you all there!

LAP and LAMP start and end times remain unchanged. For those who are already registered, LAP and LAMP begin on Wednesday, September 9th. It is also recommended that students have their own supplies such as crayons and books.

We will be conducting our own technical upgrades later this afternoon, and so will our Internet Service Provider. This means that our district website (including Parent Portal, Outlook Web Access, Remote Access and SharePoint/Intranet) may be unavailable today, Friday, September 4, 2020 from 4:00 PM until tomorrow morning.

We understand that many people, including students, parents and teachers are feeling anxious about the start of this school year. Please know that our initial focus when returning to school is on the social and emotional well-being of all of the members of our school community. Over the first few weeks of school, the emphasis will be on making our students feel comfortable and working through all of the issues that will be present as we roll out this new model of education. We know that there will be bumps in the road ahead. We ask for your patience, your understanding and your flexibility during the first few weeks of school as we begin this journey together.

Thank you, and have a great day and a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

The results of this screener will be shared with relevant school teams. The link for the screener is on the district webpage and we request that you complete it by Thursday, September 3rd.

In addition, our partners at South Oaks will be running an informational session for parents called "Supporting School Aged Children during Uncertain Times: A Covid-19 Information Session" . Update: (8/18/2020)

This information and additional reopening resources can be found on our district webpage at levittownschools.com

We are in the process of finalizing our plans for the beginning of the 2020 school year. Please be sure to review the resources posted on our School Reopening Information page.

We want to use this message to update you with the latest information:

  1. Since last week, we have begun the process of holding parent forums. A list of these forum dates is available on our reopening page. If you tried attending the Salk Middle School parent forum last night but were unable, please know that an additional parent forum has been set up for August 19th. An automated phone call will be sent out to Salk parents with the meeting information. This additional parent forum is reserved for those who could not attend on Monday night.
  2. On Friday the district posted several new documents on the reopening webpage. This includes specific information on our Remote Learning Plans as well as our Coronavirus Testing and Tracing Plan.
  3. Our reopening FAQ document was also recently updated. Answers to the most commonly asked questions can be found there.
  4. There have been many questions asked related to our remote learning plans. For those who wish to have their children participate in the full remote option but missed the initial deadline, we currently are accepting names for the waitlist through this Friday, August 21st. After Friday, we will no longer be able to accept names for the elementary full remote program as we will be assigning teachers to those remote classes. As our plans for the secondary level include live streaming from currently scheduled classes, there is more flexibility in grades 6-12.
  5. We have also received many questions about what the remote learning looks like for students who are attending school in-person in the Hybrid Instructional Model in grades 6-12. Please know that the instruction provided on those remote days will be a combination of live, synchronous instruction as well as asynchronous activities. More information will be released on this later next week. As with all aspects of our plan, we will be re-evaluating our protocols every two weeks to ensure that we are using the most up to date and effective practices.
  6. As we are still working to revise our schedules based on remote learning options, student schedules as well as teacher assignments will not be available until the week before school.
  7. We have also received several questions on why the district is beginning the year with multiple, layered safety protocols in place. The safety of our students and staff is our primary concern with the start of school. As we have mentioned previously, we will continue to review our instructional methodologies and health protocols every two weeks and will make adjustments as necessary and appropriate for everyone in our care.
  8. Finally, Island Harvest is currently holding its food, school and hygiene supply distribution in the old Sears parking lot in Hicksville for anyone who is interested. This distribution is today and continues until later this afternoon, or when supplies run out.

We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone. Please know that our main focus is on the safe return of students and staff to our buildings. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Have a great day.

Update: (8/5/2020 - 8/7/2020)

Good afternoon. This is an important message from the Levittown School District for Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Please note that as many of our families are without power due to the recent Tropical Storm, we will be resending this message out on Friday, August 7th.

We hope you and your family are well. We have received many questions over the past week regarding school reopening as well as the full remote option the district is offering. Please see this FAQ document featuring many of these questions as well as the most up-to-date answers. If you have submitted questions to us, or are looking for information, please visit our district website. This document will continue to be updated regularly. Many have also asked for an extension of the deadline to sign up for the remote option. Please know we set the August 7th date to provide us with the enrollment information that we need in order to make staffing adjustments over the next few weeks. These staffing adjustments will have impacts not just on the remote option, but also on in-person classes, especially at the secondary level. However, we understand the gravity of this decision for parents and can provide an extension until Monday, August 10th, at 12 midnight.

Our full, final reopening plan is now available on our district website. You may continue to provide feedback using the email address

Update: (7/31/2020)

Good afternoon. This is a school reopening update from the Levittown School District for Friday July 31, 2020.

We have received several questions regarding the remote option survey, specifically a request for additional information about school reopening to help with making the decision to return to school.

Currently, our plan for reopening schools this fall is as follows:

  • At the elementary level, all students will receive in-person schooling everyday.
  • Our hope at the 6th grade level is to bring all students in every day.
  • For students in grades 7-12, students will attend school on an every other day basis. On the day they are home, students will be provided with remote instruction. The exact model of instruction on this remote day is still in development. More information on this will be forthcoming.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID19, the following health protocols will be in place:

  • All students and staff who are medically able will be required to wear masks when in the building. Mask breaks will be scheduled throughout the day at all levels.
  • All students and staff will have their temperatures checked prior to entry. Individuals who have a temperature of 100 or higher will not be permitted into the building.
  • Some furniture in classrooms will be removed to provide the maximum social distancing possible. Some classes will take place in larger settings, such as all-purpose rooms and cafeterias.
  • Students in elementary school will eat lunch in their classroom.
  • Students in grades 6-12 will eat lunch in the cafeteria, socially distanced.
  • Seniors will be allowed to take a reduced schedule of classes as long as they will meet the New York State required 22 credits for graduation. NYS Diploma requirements can be found here: www.nysed.gov/common/nysed/files/currentdiplomarequirements.pdf

These protocols will be evaluated every two weeks during the school year to make any appropriate adjustments.

For parents considering our full remote option, please note the following information:

  • Live remote instruction will be provided by a certified teacher using Google Classroom, using the in-school bell schedule.
  • The same attendance requirements for in-person classes will apply to remote classes.
  • Grades will be provided in the same fashion as in-person classes (Levels 1-4 at the elementary level and 0-100 at the secondary level).
  • For students who choose this option at the secondary level, not all elective classes may be available, however, we are endeavoring to provide as many options as possible for our students.

As more details become available over the next days and weeks we will provide additional updates. Thank you and have a great weekend!
