The study of World Languages plays an important role in preparing students to interact successfully in the global community. These studies provide practical communication skills especially useful in Government, International Relations, Commerce, Industry and many other professions. Familiarity with a world language also furnishes means of leisure time enjoyment, especially in travel, literature, and the arts.
The World Language department in the Levittown Schools currently offers instruction in Spanish, French, Italian, and American Sign Language. Our 5th graders are introduced to the study of a World Language through our FLES program, which continues into 6th grade. Many of our upper level students earn college credits through a partnership with Molloy College. As a school district we remain committed to the cultural, intellectual, and practical benefits of World Language instruction.
