MacArthur Senior Wins 1st Prize in World Open Music Competition
MacArthur High School senior, Nanor Danyal, was recently informed that she is a first prize winner in a worldwide music competition.
Nanor participated in the 15th World Open Music Competition organized by the European Association of Music Educators and Performers. This competition receives thousands of entries from all over the world each time the event takes place.
Nanor participated in the Piano section of the competition in the Senior Academic class. She performed two pieces for the competition; Nocturne in Bb minor, op. 9, no. 1 by Frederic Chopin and Garun a (Spring) by renowned Armenian composer, Komitas. For her outstanding performance, Nanor was awarded a Gold Medal and Laureate of the 1st Prize! This phenomenal achievement was the result of countless hours of hard work and practice. For her piano lessons, Nanor received instruction via video conference from her teacher Susanna Arakelyan at the prestigious Yerevan Music Secondary Specialized School in Armenia.
