Inspired by Peter H. Reynold's children's book, "The Dot," Dot Day has become an international celebration that encourages children to express themselves and make their mark on the world. Gardiners Avenue students arrived to school in clothes covered in dots, with some having decorated their own shirts with paint markers or crafting materials. In classrooms, activities had students making original creations centered around dots, and the Gardiners community covered a poster reading "Make Your Mark" with dots of color. Art teacher Alyssa Arndt visited classes to read "The Dot" to students, who enjoyed hearing the story about a student who found confidence and courage through her art teacher.
