The English Language Arts Department
The English program in Levittown Schools provides students with opportunities to develop language arts skills, especially in the instruction of grammar and the writing process. Our teachers foster high levels of critical thinking and our courses are designed to teach the skills necessary for success on New York State's Core Curriculum, provide college preparation, and instill students with the desire to become life-long learners. Our ELA program is designed to equip students with the collaborative teamwork and communication skills that foster academic discussions that will lead them to successful futures.
Students are required to read, analyze and respond to literature. In addition, required research on every level empowers students with the ability to develop research skills in the library and with the use of the classroom-based computer. Our aim is to empower our students by providing them opportunities to practice disciplined and scholarly research skills as well as give them opportunities to explore relevant topics that appeal to their interests and curiosity.
