Ms. Richiusa's 5th grade students participated in an interactive read aloud titled, "The Black Beach" by Ashley Rue. After the read aloud, the students stepped into the role of environmental engineers to try to clean up an "oil spill." Students predicted what materials would work best, tested their ideas, and discussed how engineers protect our environment. Hands-on learning, teamwork, and problem solving at its best!
