March On MacArthur - Science Olympiad Secures Spot at New York State Championship
The MacArthur High School Science Olympiad team has officially qualified for the New York State Science Olympiad tournament in Syracuse. Since the very first day of school, team members have dedicated countless hours to their craft, practicing before and after school and throughout their weekends. To sharpen their skills, the students also competed in a handful of invitational tournaments across the region, testing their knowledge in everything from anatomy to structural engineering.
This season's regional competition marks a milestone for the program. MacArthur's secondary and tertiary teams saw an unprecedented level of success, bringing home their highest number of team medals in school history. This depth of talent across all team levels highlights the strength of the MacArthur science program.
"The level of commitment we've seen this year is inspiring," said team coaches Dr. Friedman and Mr. Zausin. "These students didn't just show up; Their success is a direct reflection of that 'first day of school' hustle."
Success in Science Olympiad is a collaborative endeavor. Dr. Friedman and Mr. Zausin would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Marzigliano at Division Ave. High School for his exceptional work in organizing and hosting the regional competition. The coaches also share their gratitude for Ms. Benedetto and Mr. Jones, whose support and assistance during the event were vital to the event's smooth operation.
