MacArthur Science Olympiad: Brains,, Bots, and Balsa
Students from MacArthur High School's Science Olympiad team, coached by Dr. Friedman and Mr. Zausin, remotely took their talents to the Dick Smith Memorial Invitational (12/6/25), showcasing their engineering prowess and academic excellence in a variety of STEM-focused events. The team has designed and constructed innovative projects, including a precision-engineered balsa helicopter, a computer coded electric vehicle, and a functional mini robot. In addition to engineering challenges, the students competed in academic test events that highlighted their knowledge across various scientific disciplines.
This competition was a chance for students to apply their classroom learning to hands-on projects while collaborating and solving real-world problems. Due to the in person and remote options, the annual invitational brings together some of the most talented Science Olympiad teams in the country, fostering a spirit of innovation and friendly competition.
