Students, teachers, administrators and PTA leaders celebrated the launch of a new book vending machine at Summit Lane Elementary School on Sept. 16. The Summit Lane Elementary School community in the Levittown School District gathered in the hallway with books in hand on Sept. 16 to cut the ribbon on the school's new book vending machine.

Excitement filled the hallway as students eagerly awaited the special event. PTA copresidents Shanti Tuthill and Erin Allinger, who helped bring the new machine to the school, officially cut the ribbon, marking the start of an exciting new opportunity to encourage students to read and build their personal libraries. With the book vending machine, each student will receive a special coin on their birthday that can be used to select a book from the vending machine. Students can choose a title that interests them, giving them the opportunity to take home a new book to enjoy and share with their families.

"Reading opens the door to imagination, knowledge and endless possibilities," PTA copresident Shanti Tuthill said. "We are excited to bring the book vending machine to the school as a fun and exciting way for students to find new books and build a lifelong love of reading."
