Dozens of students celebrated a successful time in the Levittown Schools Summer Music Program as they braved the stage at Wisdom Lane Middle School on Aug. 12 to show loved ones what they have been practicing.

Roughly 50 students in fourth through 11th grade took turns on stage to perform a series of songs and solos including a percussion ensemble's rendition of "Two for the Show" by Thomas A. Brown, a saxophone ensemble's showcase of "Pirates of Agean" by David Bruce and a duo performance of "The Warrior's March" by Scott Wagstaff on flutes. Small ensemble groups were self-led under the direction of music teacher Shannon Frank. Twenty-six students in the string orchestra, directed by music teacher Matthew Nobile, closed out the show with a series of songs. Some students took on an additional challenge this summer as they elected to study a second instrument in the program.

"The students have worked so hard," said program director Megan Bastos. "They've grown so much as musicians throughout the program."
