On September 20, 2025, members of the MacArthur High School Environmental Club, advised by Dr. Friedman and Mr. Zausin, participated in International Coastal Cleanup Day at Lido Beach Town Park. Joining community volunteers, students dedicated their time to collecting litter and debris along the shoreline, contributing to a global effort to protect marine ecosystems. Beach cleanups play a critical role in preventing plastics and other pollutants from entering the ocean, where they pose significant threats to marine life and water quality. In addition to preserving the natural beauty of local beaches, events such as this highlight the importance of environmental stewardship and encourage long-term sustainable practices within the community.
