For April 2022's Autism Acceptance Month, Abbey Lane proudly celebrated neurodiversity with events that promoted inclusion, acceptance, and awareness. In order to practice social and money exchange skills, students in the ABA program had a merchandise sale and a weekly breakfast cart. We also had Abbey Lane staff members read to our ABA classes. Some teachers even brought their students in to complete crafts with our students with autism. For the week of April 25th, Abbey Lane hosted an Autism Acceptance Spirit Week. This included wearing rainbow/tie dye clothing to celebrate the beauty in the diverse spectrum of the human mind and comfy clothing for sensory-friendly Thursday to bring awareness to the various sensory needs of autistic individuals. We enjoyed taking part in all activities and we are so overwhelmed by the support we received from our Abbey family. Over 1,700 dollars was raised from sales and proceeds will be donated directly to NSASA, the Nassau-Suffolk autism society of America.
