The fourth graders in Ms. Kissane's class put their problem solving skills to the test when they had to design, build, and test a Jelly Bean catapult. Students were given a budget of $100. They used their pretend money to purchase supplies for their catapult. Then, they used tape, popsicle sticks, plastic spoons, and rubber bands to build a catapult that would fling a jelly bean. After the initial test, students redesigned the catapult to see if the jelly beans could travel the length of the classroom, or even the hallway! This sticky challenge produced a lot of unique catapults. Each student worked hard and had fun in the process!
