Congratulations to 3 teams of MacArthur Science Research students for being recognized as Toshiba ExploraVision National Honorable Mention winners. The ExploraVision competition engages the next generation in real world problem solving with a strong emphasis on STEM. ExploraVision challenges students to envision and communicate new technology 10 or more years in the future through collaborative brainstorming and research of current science and technology in a 10 page paper and website. Freshmen, James Colella, Vincent McCormack, and Jolie Naidus, proposed new advances for ocean floor exploration; while the team of Caitlin Barry and Melody Hong tackled the disposal of face masks using nanoparticle photocatalysts. Juniors and sophomore, Ana Compton, Leah Calvo, and Mia Rivera, proposed a global initiative for gun safety using GPS and RFID technology.
