Five sophomores from the Levittown Public School District have been selected as ambassadors for their high schools in the virtual New York Metro Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar on June 5 and 6. Alex Gao and Kennedi Allison will represent Division Avenue High School, while Anastasia Angelakis, Edward Muro and David Silberger will represent General Douglas MacArthur High School.
Each year, thousands of sophomores across the country participate in one of HOBY's 70 State Leadership Seminars. The New York Metro Leadership Seminar will be attended by over 150 ambassadors, who were selected for their interest in community service, high moral character and strong leadership skills. The seminars give students the opportunity to exercise their leadership abilities in personal and group settings and connect with local community leaders through panels, discussions and presentations.
"It's great being a representative for MacArthur and I'm eager to go to the seminar," said David.
"Hard work pays off," Anastasia added.
"I have nerves, but they're good nerves," Kennedi said. "I'm super excited and nervous to be nominated."
"It's an honor to represent Division," Alex said. "It's a fantastic opportunity to have our voices heard."
