Brian Kalinowski, a fifth grader from East Broadway Elementary School, was recently presented with a Nassau Music Educators Association Scholarship to continue honing his trumpet skills in the Levittown Summer Music Program this year.
Brian is a talented student-musician who has received multiple perfect scores on both the piano and trumpet at New York State School Music Association festivals during the past few years. He applied, wrote an essay submission and sent in his previous NYSSMA festival scores to be considered for the scholarship by the Nassau Music Educators Association Scholarship Committee. Brian's band teacher Megan Bastos also recommended him for the scholarship based on his exceptional music abilities.
The scholarship will cover the full cost of the Levittown Summer Music Program for Brian this year. The Levittown Summer Music Program is open to Levittown students in grades 3-12 who wish to begin or continue studying a musical instrument. The program offers band and orchestra instruction for beginners and enrichment for students already in the Levittown Public Schools music program.
