Kindergarten classes from Gardiners Avenue Elementary School held their annual Teddy Bear Parade on April 14. Due to the pandemic, the classes decided to embrace the spring sunshine and held the special event outdoors on the school blacktop for the first time.
Leading up to the parade day, the kindergarten students were challenged to create a vehicle at home that could hold their teddy bear as part of a science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics lesson. Using shoeboxes as vehicles, each student decorated their creations for the big reveal on parade day.
With music filling the blacktop, students in grades 1-5 sat socially distant from one another as they watched and cheered on the kindergartners who proudly walked the parade route to showcase their STEAM designs and teddy bears. It was a great day to celebrate student learning.
