The Levittown Public Schools is thrilled to announce the Class of 2021 Valedictorian and Salutatorian for Division Avenue High School and General Douglas MacArthur High School. Nikhil Keer has been recognized as Division Avenue's valedictorian and Colin Muessig was selected as salutatorian. Emily Zhang has been named MacArthur High School's valedictorian and Matthew Fioretti was honored as salutatorian. These four outstanding seniors have made their mark both academically in the classroom and throughout their school communities.
With an impressive grade point average of 104.56, Nikhil has achieved many academic accolades throughout this high school career at Division Avenue. Among his achievements, he was named an Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction, an AP Capstone Diploma recipient, a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student and was a 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholar Program Nominee. Nikhil is the president of the school's DECA club, the president and team captain of the Science Olympiad club and a valuable member of the Mathletes club. He is also a peer leader and a Levittown DoSomething club member where he participates in social change and civic action campaigns. He is interested in pursuing a career in Physics to become a research scientist.
Colin, Division Avenue's salutatorian, has a GPA of 103.6 and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honor for his impressive AP exam scores. Like Nikhil, he is highly involved at the high school. Among his extracurriculars, he is an active member of Science Olympiad club and participated in regional competitions while in Mathletes club. In addition, Colin is a member of the school's National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society.
MacArthur High School's valedictorian, Emily, holds a GPA of 104.07. She has garnered many honors and awards during her high school career, such as All-County and New York All-State honors from the Nassau Music Educators Association and the New York State School Music Association, respectively. Emily is an active member of the Levittown community and the MacArthur community. She is involved in many organizations such the school's Environmental club, Mathletes club, National Honor Society, pit orchestra, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Quiz Bowl team and the varsity badminton team. Emily also serves as the president of MacArthur's Science Olympiad club and has taken her love for science to the Garcia Summer Research Program at Stony Brook University where she has participated in virtual research. She plans to major in bio-medical engineering after graduation.
Matthew, MacArthur's salutatorian, is another impressive student with a GPA of 103.87. This year, he was selected as a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student for his exceptional score on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Like Emily, he is also heavily involved at MacArthur High School. He is an active participant in the school's Mathletes club, Key Club and Quiz Bowl team. Matthew is also a valuable member of the school's business, math and national honor societies and is a baseball player for the South Shore Elite Organization. After graduation, he plans to study bio-medical engineering or economics.
