During LEADD week Summit Lane Elementary school had its Get a Voice kick off. Several teachers reenacted the book The Way I Act, by Steve Metzger. The children were introduced to several character education words that focus on positive behavior and feelings. As a follow-up to the skit, the children heard the story again during their Literacy Center period. They were introduced to grade level appropriate character education words and were asked to make a puzzle piece to demonstrate what they wanted to
BE every day when they come to Summit Lane. The children were encouraged to talk about how they act and how their actions may affect others. The puzzles pieces were put on display on two bulletin boards in the hall for all to see that together we can BE positive in a variety of ways!
