Jonas E. Salk Middle School recently received a certificate from Character.org, recognizing the school's Challenger Athletic League as a 2018 Promising Practice. The Challenger Program provides an opportunity for students with special needs to participate in competitive athletics.
To be eligible for a Promising Practice award, school's across the nation must plan and implement unique initiatives or programs that build strong character and collaboration in students. The Challenger Athletic League, coordinated by Jeff Aiello II and coached by Stephanie Kost, aligns with Character.org's Principles of Character. With this program, the school has fostered a caring community, engaging families and community members into the character initiative.
