2017-2018 Driver Education Program
Fall Semester: Starts - September 23rd, 2017; Ends - January 26th, 2018
Driver Education is a program offered by the Levittown School District to resident students who are 16 years of age prior to the start of the program session. If the demand for Driver Education is too great for the number of available spots and the student meets the prerequisites, selection for the program will be made on the basis of age and grade - seniors are selected first in chronological order by birth date; remaining students are selected in age order regardless of grade.
Registration meeting dates:
Division Ave. High School
Thursday, September 7th, 2017 Cafeteria West meeting begins at 2:30 PM
Ends approximately 2:50 PM.
MacArthur High School
Friday, September 8th, 2017 Cafeteria A meeting begins at 2:30PM
Ends approximately 2:50 PM.
*Students must stay for entire meeting. No money is due at registration. Application instructions will be given at the meeting by the teacher in charge. Questions will be answered at this time. Parents are welcome to attend this meeting.
Only students who are 16 years of age or older as of September 23rd, 2017 are eligible for Driver Education. Students who have registered are not automatically enrolled in the program. Students will be selected on the basis of grade and age. Students will be notified via connect-ed. message if they have been selected.
Class lists of those students selected in the program along with their lecture and road times will be posted outside of the Main Attendance Office on Wednesday, September 20th, 2017.
Tuition Rate for the 2017-2018 School Year is $475.00
Students who are selected and on the lists are required to pay tuition (certified check or money order ONLY - no cash or personal checks) prior to the start of the program. Further payment information will be discussed at the registration meetings.
Please plan to have your child obtain a NY State Learner's Permit at this time if you have not already done so, as a copy of the Learner's Permit will be required when payment is due.
The Spring Driver Education program will begin on Saturday, February 3rd, 2018; the Spring registration process begins shortly after the New Year. Please check this website in mid-December for further information regarding Spring Driver Ed.
By NYSED and DMV mandate, the program must meet for 24 classroom hours and 24 hours in the car, six hours behind the wheel and eighteen hours observation. Attendance is strictly enforced and upon the fourth absence a student will be dropped from the program.
