Those who made the cut for 'Hair We Share' holding certificates of participation.
Nine Northside School Students and three parents participated in the "Hair We Share" program. They were: Olivia Martin, Reana Sy, Elizabeth Louie, Emma Gonzalez, Haley-Brooke Hum, Mikayla Sy, Madison Messina, Brianna Eckert, Mrs. Patel, Mrs. Gonzalez, and Mrs. Velez. The volunteers, wearing turquois blue shirts that were provided for the program, came to the Northside Library where the tables were covered with bright tablecloths, adorned with balloons and decorations as well as bowls with assorted candies.
They and their family members were greeted by Mrs. Cheryl Bamberger who facilitated the effort with Mrs. Debra Higgins. The owner of the salon, "Hair Junkie" in Williston Park, Mrs. Karen Cunningham, was the stylist who cut everyone's hair.
The participants donated eight inches of their hair, making the cut so that "Hair We Share" can process the hair into free wigs for children and adults who have dealt with cancer treatments, alopecia, burns, and accidents.
These students and parents showed kindness and caring for others as they supported this worthy cause.
