Northside School teachers and staff came together in hope and strength against breast cancer. They have worked together to promote many initiatives to raise money for breast cancer research.
Pink ribbons were sold to all teachers, staff, and students for one dollar each. On each paper ribbon the donors wrote their names and designated someone for whom it was dedicated. The ribbons are proudly displayed on bulletin board in the hallways of Northside.
A large committee was formed to raise money by selling pink T-shirts. They have a large "N" printed in white with the pink ribbon logo within it and it reads "Northside Has Hope." This was a team effort by many teachers to take orders from staff and students, collect payments, sort and distribute the shirts. School-wide, nearly 280 shirts were sold. The money was sent to Levittown District Coordinator of making Strides for Breast Cancer, Tracy Smith.
Northside teachers will walk at Jones Beach on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the annual Making Strides against Breast Cancer Walk. Many walkers have sponsors that donate for the walk.
Members of the "Northside Family," teachers, administrators, staff, students, and parents, all know close relatives or friends or themselves who have been affected by cancer. Everyone working together for research and a cure for this disease has brought us closer and stronger in our commitment to fight it.
