Northside School Hosts "Mad Science" Assembly
Northside School presented a "Mad Science" assembly program to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. This energetic program engaged the children with its specialized equipment and experiments done by Zenon Zach, the very entertaining mad scientist. The show was called "Fire and Ice." Dr. Zach used humor and facts with an interactive hands-on approach as he worked with Northside's youngsters.
He began with a card trick and taught how air feeds fire. He then proceeded to show use of fire with a beaker and a hardboiled egg as well as a hair dryer and a ping pong ball creating a vortex. The dry ice experiments were the favorite of all. Zenon Zach demonstrated sublimation with a block of dry ice which was carbon dioxide at minus 109 degrees. Students participated in various experiments with the vapor.
