Gardiners Third grade students put their engineering and problem solving skills to the test this month. During their weather unit, students discussed severe weather and its impact on manmade structures such as homes. The grade examined severe storm data and analyzed what characteristics helped some structures stay up during severe weather. Students worked in teams to create a house to either survive "hurricane" force winds, rain or both. Our students' problem solved, designed and redesigned their structures to make them as hurricane resistant as possible.
