Joining the ranks of top student-musicians from throughout New York State, Division Avenue High School senior Joanne Chun and junior Jacqueline Testamark and General Douglas MacArthur High School junior Paul Giorlando, were selected to perform at the annual New York State School Music Association All-State Conference in Rochester from Nov. 29-Dec. 2. In addition, Division Avenue High School seniors Brandon Smith and Eileen Cha and MacArthur High School seniors Lyle Greene and Joseph Novello were selected as alternates.
To earn All-State honors, students throughout New York State must perform exceptionally at solo and ensemble festivals during the previous school year. Chun was selected for the flute, Testamark was selected for soprano I voice and Giorlando was selected to perform in the symphonic band for trumpet. As alternates, Cha was selected for violincello, Smith and Novello were chosen for multiple percussion and Greene was selected for tenor I voice.
In Rochester, the students will participate in three days of rehearsals with prominent conductors which will conclude with all groups performing at the Eastman Theater. The district congratulates these seven talented student-musicians on this great achievement.
