On February 14th, General Douglas MacArthur High School's National Honor Society began its fundraising campaign for the YOLO Strong Foundation. Each student was given a water bottle that he or she will use to collect change and bills with the ultimate goal of raising $3,500 for the foundation.
YOLO "you only live once" was started by Danielle Taylor and other women who were looking to make a difference in the world. Mrs. Taylor came to speak to MacArthur's Honor Society at their kickoff meeting. She spoke to the students about how one person can make a difference in the world. The YOLO Strong Foundation raises money for a variety of local organizations that help children. The main receiver of the funds is the Morgan Center, located in Hicksville. It is the only preschool in the country that provides an education to children undergoing chemotherapy.
