Riding to Positive Decisions at Lee Road
As part of the Levittown School District's Levittown Education Against Destructive Decisions Week, Lee Road Elementary School students heard from Joey Branford and Stephan Cerra of the Flowstyle BMX Trick Team on Oct. 25.
Sponsored by the school's PTA, the professional BMX riders hosted two assemblies in the school's gymnasium to speak to students about important topics such as staying safe, healthy habits, anti-bullying and goal setting. They also showcased various BMX tricks that they learned over the years, while stressing to students not to try them at home.
Cerra spoke about his career and his daily fitness routines to the students. He encouraged healthy eating and working out each day. During the assembly, student volunteers were selected to show off their jump roping abilities as their peers cheered them on. Afterwards, Cerra attempted to match their jumps on his bike.
At the end of the program, both Cerra and Branford handed out postcards and posters to students who could name the tricks that were featured during the assembly. They also signed autographs for some lucky students.
