Steven Corina, a graduate of MacArthur High School (Class of 2010) shared his experiences in the Peace Corps with Lee Road fourth graders. The students learned about the geographical region of Guyana and Corina's residence in Upper Takutu, the various foods and animals and what it is like to live with a host family. They also learned the similarities and differences in the way students attend school.
After his presentation, Corina asked the students for ideas for teaching Guyanese children about life in the United States. Suggestions included the symbolism behind the American flag, various languages spoken, weather and animals.
