During the month of September, the students in Ms. Borst's class learned about the scientific method. They conducted an experiment to see which cup of Skittles would lose its color quicker. Skittles were placed in a cold or hot cup of water. Before conducting the experiment, students listed questions that they wondered about. They also wrote down any background knowledge they had on this experiment and then they formulated a hypothesis. In addition, they planned what materials were needed and the steps it would take complete it. Finally, students conducted the experiment and observed what they noticed. In the end, students concluded that the cup of Skittles placed in the hot water lost its color quicker. They learned that this happened because the molecules in the hot water moved more quickly. The children had a lot of fun while learning about the scientific method!
