The Tallest Pipe Cleaner Tower at Gardiners Ave.
Third grade STEAM teams at Gardiners Avenue proudly wore theirnew STEAM patches (last month's steam project) while they worked on this month'sproject. Their task this month? To design and construct the tallest pipe cleaner tower they could using just 30 pipe cleaners.
After round one, teams used what they learned from their successes and failures to improve their design. Students discovered that a large foundation was crucial if they wanted to build tall. They also utilized support beams to make their structure sturdier. The second round of towers, on average, topped the first round towers by more than 10 centimeters!
