Kindergarten Shuffleboard at Gardiners Ave.
The Kindergarten continues "Full STEAM Ahead" in November experimenting with push & pull properties. The students created "shuffleboard rinks' out of cardboard box tops using bottle caps as pucks and pencils as shuffleboard sticks. It was so challenging and exciting to figure out the best way to hold, and push the bottle cap around the board to make a goal!
We ultimately learned that the best results were achieved when we held the pencil flat against the cardboard to push the bottle cap into the opponent's zone rather that hold it upright. We also were the most successful when we did not use a lot of force pushing as that made controlling and directing the bottle cap more difficult. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the concepts of push & pull!
