East Broadway Library Media Center
The mission of the Library Media Center is to promote literacy and a love of learning among the students at East Broadway School. This is accomplished by integrating library skills with the classroom curriculum through close collaboration with teachers. Students come to the media center once a week. During their weekly period they select books, work on research projects, listen to book talks, participate in author studies, and learn how to use and evaluate print and on-line information sources. In addition, students participate in special media center events, such as the fifth grade Literary Pumpkin Contest, the annual "Reading Is Magical" celebration, and the Storytelling Festival sponsored by the Levittown Public Library. The goal of all our programs is to develop literate students who will bring with them a life-long love of learning when they leave East Broadway School.
