Two seniors from Division Avenue High School and two seniors from General Douglas MacArthur High School were selected as semifinalists in the 2019 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Holly Dukacz and Brandon Smith from Division Avenue High School and Kimberly Mestizo and Colin Wu from General Douglas MacArthur High School are among 1,896 high school seniors in the nation who were chosen from more than 95,000 applications to continue in the competition with the hopes of receiving a $20,000 scholarship.
Semifinalists were selected based on their exceptional leadership skills, academic abilities and community service. As a semifinalist, these four students will submit their application which will be reviewed in Jan. 2019. After the review process, the Program Reading Committee will select 250 regional finalists who will continue to compete to become one of the 150 Coca-Cola Scholars.
