Enrichment Program

The Levittown School District is proud to offer a variety of services to its student population to ensure Success for Every Student. Accordingly, the district has an enrichment program which recognizes and provides services to those students whose intellectual and creative abilities require experiences beyond those that can be offered in the traditional course of study.

The enrichment program for the 2008-2009 school year will begin in first grade with a language program. The district will provide a school-wide enrichment program for all second grade students and a pull-out program for students identified as gifted in grades 3 – 5. Students in grades 6-8 will receive a scheduled class.

When your child completes second grade, if you feel that he or she would qualify, you may want to discuss the program with your child’s teacher. If your child is in grades 3-8 and has not been a part of the program and you believe that your child will meet the qualifications for a gifted program, we ask that you complete the two-page Characteristics of Giftedness Scale. Please note that all pages must be completed. Students who receive a “true” rating on 75% of the categories will be eligible to take the CogAT Exam. The results of this exam, along with their New York State assessment scores and report card grades will determine acceptance into the enrichment program.

For the 2008-2009 school year, the completed surveys should be returned to the attention of: Todd Winch, Assistant Director of Pupil Services no later than September 17, 2008.
